The Friends of Minneapolis Central Library will be hosting their fundraising gala event “Treasures from the Stacks” on the evening of Friday, May 17 from 5:00-7:00pm. The gala will take place in Doty, Cargill Hall, and the second floor Library Atrium.
This very exciting evening will include music by Maria Jette and Dan Chouinard, who will be performing ‘treasures’ from the MC music collection! There will be a display of highlights from the general collection, tours of Special Collections, and wine and hors d’oeurves. The Cargill Gallery will be open and feature “Revisiting Twain's Mississippi: Photos by Chris Faust” with an accompanying display of materials from our Hoag Mark Twain Collection. The tour of Special Collections will highlight items from the Minneapolis Collection, the Kittleson WWII Collection, and others, as well as items from the Children’s Milestones and Folklore collections.
Ticket sales and donations from this event will be used to purchase early literacy items for the Children’s Library, such as a preschool play kitchen, a discovery light table, a dollhouse, and STEM-related activities. Library staff are invited to attend—the MC Friends would love to see you there! Tickets are $35. RSVP by May 1.
