At March meetings, the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners appointed new members Jonathan Gaw of Minneapolis and Samuel Neisen of Maple Grove to replace Gary Thaden of Minneapolis and Doris Rubenstein of Richfield on the Hennepin County Library Board.
The County Board also re-appointed Caitlin Cahill of Maple Plain to the Library Board.
All three member terms run through Dec. 31, 2018.
Jonathan Gaw is a longtime library advocate, previously serving on the Friends of the Hennepin County Library Board of Directors. Samuel Neisen is an educator who has experience teaching in nearby Rogers and Minnetonka, and as far away as Queretaro, Mexico.
“I welcome Jonathan and Samuel; both stood out among a large and competitive group of applicants and will bring valuable ideas and perspectives to the Library Board,” said Library Director Lois Langer Thompson. “It is wonderful to have Caitlin Cahill back, as well.
I am also immensely grateful to Gary Thaden and Doris Rubenstein for their years of service and substantial contributions on our board. In many ways, they have helped Hennepin County Library move forward and meet our mission of nourishing minds, transforming lives and building community together.”
The Library Board consists of 11 Hennepin County residents appointed by the County Board using Hennepin County’s open appointment process for citizen advisory boards.
New officers will be elected to a one-year term at the Library Board’s Annual Meeting, Tuesday, April 20, 2016.
