This class provides an overview of the print and electronic resources available in youth reference services.
It will focus upon reference and reader's advisory techniques for working with children, young people, and the adults in their lives.
Class is presented by Youth Services Reference Team members.

This class is required for librarians, associate librarians, and substitute librarians who are new to HCL. Newly promoted staff may attend at the discretion of their supervisor. Current staff, including current substitutes, who want a refresher are welcome. Supervisory approval is required.

Tour of children's and teen's spaces at Ridgedale and overview of the Ridgedale children's reference collection.
3. Using the resources on the HCL homepage as reference and reader's advisory tools.
Overview of resources available on Kids and Reading, Kidlinks, and Teenlinks.
4. Sure fire hits for reference and reader's advisory in every area of the children's collections.
Tips for reference interactions and common questions for every area of the collection.
