POLICY
Library letterhead stationery, postage, and mailing facilities are to be used for official library business correspondence only. Official business correspondence is defined generally as that which involves the Library directly in dealings with patrons, political agencies and jurisdictions, Friends of the Library organizations, other libraries, public officials, professional organizations, vendors, jobbers, and publishers. Further, if the correspondence is assigned or authorized by one’s supervisor, it is considered official.
Authorized correspondence includes, but is not limited to, that which is associated with performing those tasks inherent in one’s position and those resulting from membership in professional organizations, e.g., ALA/MLA committee or program work.
Authorized correspondence does not include personal correspondence of any kind even if the topic is related to libraries or library issues.
