POLICY

 

 

Hennepin County offers the Vacation Donation Program to employees who want to assist colleagues who have exhausted their paid leave but must take time off for a personal disability or for the disability of a member of their household. Eligible employees can donate some of their vacation hours to donate the money to a worker who has no paid leave time available. The hours will be converted to sick leave when the employee uses them. The monetary value of the donated hours are converted into hours at the salary rate of the employee receiving them.

It is the supervisor’s responsibility to inform employees of this program. The receiving employee must agree to participate in the program and complete the necessary forms prior to the supervisor requesting donations.

Donations are to be solicited informally, e.g., e-mail, memo, etc. The Staff Newsletter is not to be used.
