Patrons who are prevented by a permanent disability from access to or normal use of a library, or library materials, are exempt from fines. If the disability is not obvious, the patron may be asked for a statement from a doctor or another authority. In the case of the reading disabled, a statement from a teacher or counselor would also be accepted. Material borrowed will still be the patron's responsibility and subject to charges when lost, damaged or not returned.
Use of the fine exempt card is limited to the person to whom it is issued.
Fine-free privileges do not apply to the following items:
See Outreach for service to disabled patrons who cannot visit the library in person.
