Rules for Application and Use of Hennepin County Library Non-Resident Fee Cards
Non-resident cards are available for a $60.00 fee to people who live outside the State of Minnesota, or are Minnesota residents whose public library is not yet a member of a regional public library system. Upon payment of the $60.00 fee, the patron accepts responsibility for all materials charged to this card. The patron may ask for cards for other family members of her/his household. All family cards issued are listed/added under the fee-payer patron record, and regardless of which card is scanned; the fee-payer name will display. All material will be charged to one name, the fee-payer. The card is intended to be used to checkout materials, not to gain remote access to HCL and/or MELSA contracted databases.
The head of the household may apply for a card(s) at any one of the Hennepin County Library agencies.
It is the responsibility of the fee-paying person to notify the issuing agency if any of the cards are lost or stolen. This person is responsible for unpaid charges for family members covered by the $60.00 fee.
The cards will expire at the end of the original application month, one year after issuance.
Any questions about the Hennepin County Library non-resident card should be directed to library staff.
