Cover ArtBlood money [sound recording]
by Perry, Thomas
Have to say this is another edge of your seat, nail biting adventure!! Full of suspense--I couldn’t wait to hear what happened next!! I must say the ending was a bit anti-climatic for me. There was closure to part of the story, but was confused with the ending as to how all the mafia / mob families dealt with the problems presented in the novel. The last disk was pretty much a let down. Joyce Bean did a great job narrating this story. 8 out of 10 for me.   posted May 19, 2013 at 1:35AM

Cover ArtUntil the end of time : a novel
by Steel, Danielle
This story was a bit different from most of the Danielle Steel stories I’ve read . . . and I loved it!! Two love stories in one, intertwined about 40 years apart. Loved that the story is about down-to-earth, real people instead of the extremely wealthy characters that are most often in Danielle’s stories. 8 out of 10 for me--very enjoyable read!!   posted May 19, 2013 at 1:20AM

Cover ArtSafe haven
by Sparks, Nicholas
Another great story by Nicholas Sparks. A little reminiscent of "Sleeping with the Enemy" movie, but with an entirely different twist. Great love story with an amazing and unexpected ending!! You won’t be disappointed reading this story--9 out of 10 for me.   posted May 14, 2013 at 6:07PM

Cover ArtGotcha!
by Michaels, Fern
After reading the last installment in the Sisterhood series, "Home Free", I didn’t set my expectations too high for this latest story, "Gotcha!" I was pleasantly surprised!! This book really starts a new chapter in the series, with the "second string" taking charge (but still relying on the "first string" to bring it all together). Definitely worth a read--8 out of 10 for me.   posted May 9, 2013 at 5:03PM

Cover ArtPanic [sound recording] : [a novel]
by Abbott, Jeff
This story grabs you and pulls you into the excitement from the very beginning! So many twists and turns makes it difficult to determine who are the good guys and who are the bad guys. Great listen right up to the very end--and you do eventually figure out who the good guys are!! 9 of 10 for me on this one.   posted May 8, 2013 at 6:39PM

Cover ArtHunting Sweetie Rose
by Fredrickson, Jack.
Another great story by Jack Fredrickson!! I came across this author quite by chance, but have loved each of his three stories I’ve read. This one was another great mystery with a very well thought out and delivered plot, with quite a surprising ending. Just when you thought you had it figured out, the author comes in with an unexpected twist. Interspersed with humor, this book is well worth the read!! Definitely 9 out of 10 for me.   posted May 5, 2013 at 6:38PM

Cover ArtHonestly dearest, you’re dead
by Fredrickson, Jack.
Another great mystery by Jack Fredrickson!! Very well thought out story line with many unexpected twists and turns along the way. Mystery with a bit of romance thrown in for good measure. 8 out of 10 on this book.   posted Apr 28, 2013 at 9:44PM

Cover ArtCollecting Cooper : a thriller
by Cleave, Paul
As with the other Paul Cleave novels I’ve read, this one was a bit difficult to get involved in. There were many converging characters that had to be developed before everything fell into place. Many unexpected twists and turns--hard to put this book down!! Great story, but a bit too gruesome for me at points. 7 out of 10 for me on this one.   posted Apr 18, 2013 at 7:51PM

Cover ArtWith a tangled skein
by Anthony, Piers
As always, George Guidall puts an interesting "spin" on this story with his amazing narration skills!! Really liked this third installment in the incarnations of immortality series, but got a bit long near the end, with too much logic involved. Kind of takes the pleasure out of a fantasy novel when you have to start thinking about what you are listening to. Good overall--8 out of 10 for me.   posted Apr 6, 2013 at 10:37PM

Cover ArtYesterday’s sun : a novel
by Brooke, Amanda
Intriguing story, with a unique spin, about the love between a mother (Holly) and her daughter and the love of a woman who is like the mother Holly never had. A little slow to start, but a true tear-jerker at the end!! 7 out of 10 for me.   posted Mar 28, 2013 at 12:27PM

Cover ArtThe sign of the book [sound recording] : [a Cliff Janeway Bookman novel]
by Dunning, John
Great story made even better with the amazing narration skills of George Guidall!! Twists, turns and a totally unexpected ending make for an amazing listen on audiobook!! 8 out of 10 for me.   posted Mar 23, 2013 at 8:48PM

Cover ArtVoid moon
by Connelly, Michael
Great read from beginning to end--you expect one thing and something else happens (sign of a great suspense novel)!! I really enjoyed this story. 9 of 10 for me.   posted Mar 17, 2013 at 10:31AM

Cover ArtThe cobra [sound recording]
by Forsyth, Frederick
Great listen!! The author had a very well thought out story line that was delivered to perfection. Especially towards the end, I had a hard time getting out of the car because I couldn’t wait to hear what was going to happen next!! The ending was unexpected, but actually the perfect conclusion for this exciting novel!! 9 out of 10 here.   posted Mar 15, 2013 at 9:02AM

Cover ArtStar Island
by Hiaasen, Carl
There were a couple very colorful characters that I totally enjoyed. Good story that made me want to pick up the book and read more!! I need to explore some other stories by this author, hopefully some with the colorful characters that really made Star Island a fun read!! 7 out of 10 for me.   posted Mar 3, 2013 at 4:10PM

Cover ArtBearing an hourglass [electronic resource]
Listened to this story on audio book--George Guidall is an amazing narrator for this series!! So on to my review--the first two disks were a 10 out of 10 for me!! Then, not so good--the next 2 disks were too much Sci Fi for me, and the space man kept coming back, although his second appearance I found more enjoyable. Also too much physics and theory of relativity. The last couple disks turned around and I LOVED the ending!! Overall a 7 out of 10 for me.   posted Mar 1, 2013 at 7:14PM

Cover ArtA safe place for dying
by Fredrickson, Jack.
Was pleasantly surprised with this book!! Went to pick up a different mystery at the recommendation of a friend and it was not available. Since I was in the mood for a mystery, pulled this one from the shelf. Well written and definitely suspenseful right up until the end!! Great ending for a well written story--8 out of 10 for me!!   posted Feb 19, 2013 at 7:13PM

Cover ArtBlood men : a thriller
by Cleave, Paul
Third read for this author and my favorite of his so far. This was the first of the three that I really got involved in the story right from the very beginning. Full of thrill and suspense, with a bit of humor thrown in for good measure!! The ending is worth the read--takes a very interesting turn. 8 out of 10 for me on this one!!   posted Feb 15, 2013 at 9:31PM

Cover ArtHeaven’s fury [sound recording]
by Frey, Stephen W.
Absolutely great story!! Got involved in the plot right away and kept guessing how things were going to fall out. Let me tell you--the ending is worth the listen!! Surprises all the way through!! 9 out of 10 for me on this one.   posted Feb 12, 2013 at 12:20PM

Cover ArtOn a pale horse [electronic resource]
Listened to this story on audio book and well worth a listen, if simply for the great narration skills of George Guidall!! I’ve not read much along the fantasy genre, but did enjoy this story and look forward to listening to the remaining installations in Piers Anthony’s Incarnations series. There was love, hate, humor and a lot of fun--7 out of 10 for me.   posted Feb 4, 2013 at 7:23PM

Cover ArtThe litigators
by Grisham, John
I’ve read several Grisham novels in the past, but must say I was quite disappointed in this story. It just never seemed to pick up momentum. Although I will say I enjoyed about the last 6 chapters--story had a good ending. Only 5 out of 10 for me on this one.   posted Feb 3, 2013 at 8:49PM

Cover ArtBetrayal
by Michaels, Fern
I have to say I almost gave up on reading this story--it just made me so angry. But I don’t usually give up so continued on. This was a very different story from Fern Michaels and I can honestly say that I loved how the story turned around and the ending was amazing--yes, I cried!! Worth a read--8 out of 10 for me on this one.   posted Jan 26, 2013 at 4:07PM

Cover ArtStand-in groom
by Brockmann, Suzanne.
If you’re looking for a great, heart-warming love story, this one’s for you!! Has a bit of a different twist, but guaranteed to bring some tears to your eyes as you read. Loved this story so much actually read the entire book in one day!! One of the underlying messages in this book was the importance of telling those special people in your life that you love them. Since I know the person who recommended this book to me will read my review I just want to say to him, "I love you"!! 9 out of 10 for me on this one.   posted Jan 20, 2013 at 9:26PM

Cover ArtThe laughterhouse : a thriller
by Cleave, Paul
Great story!! Second novel I’ve read by this author and even though this book was a bit difficult to get into at the beginning, I was soon engrossed in the story and had a hard time putting the book down. The ending was totally unexpected, which I think really added to my enjoyment of this book. I’ll say 8 out of 10 for me.   posted Jan 20, 2013 at 6:03PM

Cover ArtFifty shades of Grey [sound recording]
by James, E. L.
A narrator can make or break a story on audio book and that is the case on this one for me. I’ve read all the books and thought it might be a good follow-up to listen to them. Unfortunately the narrator’s voice is way too whiny and I didn’t even manage to make it through 2 of the 16 disks. Can only give this 1 of 10 as I couldn’t make it to the end of the story.   posted Jan 17, 2013 at 7:10PM

Cover ArtHit and run [sound recording]
by Block, Lawrence.
All I can say is "Wow"--what a great story!! I was pulled into the story immediately, and even though it leveled off a bit around disk 5 of 7, it got exciting again very quickly and kept me on edge right through the very end!! Listen to this one--you will definitely not be disappointed!! 10 out of 10 for me on this one!!   posted Jan 12, 2013 at 3:34PM

Cover ArtFade
by Mills, Kyle
Awesome book!! I don’t think I’ve read a book that has kept me holding on with white knuckles to see what is going to happen when I turn the page . . . and then bring tears to my eyes. Great read--amazing story with well defined characters. Definitely a 10 out of 10 for me on this one!!   posted Jan 6, 2013 at 4:06PM

Cover ArtBite me [CD sound recording] : [a love story]
by Moore, Christopher
Enjoyed the story, but definitely time for the series to end when Moore resorts to "vampire cats". Really liked the ending and the series in general was very good. I would say 7 out of 10 stars for me on this end of series story. Did get quite a few laughs, so that was good!! Again, the narrator, Susan Bennett is awesome!!   posted Jan 4, 2013 at 9:07PM

Cover ArtThe prostitutes’ ball [sound recording]

Loved this story!! It had me hooked right away and kept me intrigued right through the very end with many different twists and turns along the way. Great story mixed with interesting characters made for a very enjoyable listening experience!! Love the humor that the movie industry intertwines with police work in this story. Definitely 10 out of 10 for me on this one!!   posted Dec 29, 2012 at 5:47PM

Cover ArtThe cleaner : a thriller

The first half of the book was a bit slow, but really laid the premise of the story. Couldn’t put the book down as I neared the end and was totally blown away by how this book ended. 7 out of 10 stars for me.   posted Dec 29, 2012 at 5:43PM

Cover ArtGoddess of vengeance
by Collins, Jackie.
Another great story by Jackie Collins!! Lucky Santangelo is back and ready to take on a man who thinks he can have whatever he wants. Kudos to Jackie for writing amazing stories about strong women--love the Lucky series and look forward to the next story in the continuing saga!! Definitely 10 out of 10 for me on this one.   posted Dec 18, 2012 at 12:53PM

Cover ArtAnansi boys [sound recording] : [a novel]
by Gaiman, Neil
Have to say this one was a bit different for me, but kept me coming back to listen for more!! Loved how everything comes together in the end--even had a couple laugh out loud moments on the last disk. Lenny Henry is an awesome narrator and definitely brings this story to life with his great management of all the different characters--each with a "voice" all their own!! 7 out of 10 for me.   posted Dec 10, 2012 at 1:24PM

Cover ArtYou suck [compact disc] : [a love story]
by Moore, Christopher
A nice break from some of the more intense stories I listen to, this one actually made me laugh out loud on many occassions!! Love the introduction of the new characters and look forward to the next book in this vampire saga, Bite Me!! The narrator, Susan Bennett, makes this story really come to life. 8 of 10 stars for me on this one.   posted Dec 4, 2012 at 9:34AM

Cover ArtPursuit [compact disc] : [a novel]
by Perry, Thomas
This story was a thriller from the very beginning!! I listen to these audio books in my car and can say this one kept me in the car when arriving at my destination to listen to "just one more track"!! Another great recommendation from a friend--have not been disappointed with any suggested "reads". The end was a bit anti-climatic for me after all the action, but still a great story!! Definitely a 10 out of 10 for me.   posted Nov 21, 2012 at 5:28PM

Cover ArtBloodsucking fiends : a love story

Interesting love story of a different kind!! Christopher Moore’s subtle humor makes for a fun read!! I would say 7 out of 10 for me. Looking forward to listening to the two sequels on audio book.   posted Nov 12, 2012 at 1:07PM

Wasn’t so sure about this selection at first, but was a recommendation from a friend and he hasn’t steered me wrong yet on any audio books--by the end of the story, I was not disappointed!! The last 3 disks were outstanding. I would say 8 out of 10 for me.   posted Nov 9, 2012 at 12:16PM

Cover ArtImpact [sound recording]
by Preston, Douglas J.
Great story--fun to see multiple story lines come together. Just a touch of SciFi, but not too much for someone who doesn’t enjoy this genre of writing. Scott Sowers did an awesome job of narrating the story!! 9 of 10 for me.   posted Oct 22, 2012 at 3:51PM

Cover ArtThe Machiavelli covenant [sound recording] : [a novel]

Cover ArtBetrayal : a novel
by Steel, Danielle.
I’ve read most of Danielle Steel’s novels and can say that this story was definitely her typical style. After expanding my horizons and reading or listening to stories about some very "strong" women, I find this style a bit boring for me. Would give it 6 out of 10 rating.   posted Sep 7, 2012 at 8:04AM

Cover ArtThe gate house [sound recording] : [a novel]

Great book!! Loved the humor--at times it was hard to determine whether the lines were actually spoken or only thought. Provided many good quotes to the friend who recommended the audio book. Agree with other reviewers--definitely 10 out of 10!!   posted Sep 1, 2012 at 8:54PM

Cover ArtTo taste the wine [sound recording]

I’m a huge fan of Fern Michael’s Sisterhood and Godmother’s series. The last book I listened to by Fern was mediocre, but this book was awesome!! It was really something different from this author and I absolutely loved it!! Definitely 10 out of 10--great listen in the audio book CD version.   posted Sep 1, 2012 at 8:34PM

Wow--love Jackie Collins’ Lucky Santangelo series!! Another great story!! Once you pick up these books you simply can’t put them down!! If you love a story based on a good, strong woman you must read this series!! Definitely a 10 out of 10.   posted Aug 12, 2012 at 11:11AM

Cover ArtListen to your heart [compact disc]

Fern Michaels is known for including dogs into her story lines--this book, however, seemed to center mostly around the dogs!! A little different than what I’ve encountered in her other novels I’ve read, but was an enjoyable listening experience!!   posted Jul 25, 2012 at 1:09PM

Another good read from Jackie Collins!! Looking forward to the next book in the Lucky Santangelo saga. Not quite as good as some of the others in the series, but an OK read nonetheless.   posted Jul 12, 2012 at 11:05AM

Upon friends recommendation I checked out this audio book. Was very different from anything I’ve read in the past, so was not too sure about it at first, but by the time it came to an end, I was totally in love with the story--had an absolutely wonderful ending!! Definitely listen on CD--very funny story with lots of laughs along the way.   posted Jul 5, 2012 at 4:19PM

Love the Godmother series and this book did not disappoint!! The first few chapters, again, seemed to add only fluff with little substance. Overall, thoroughly enjoyed this read from Fern Michaels!!   posted Jun 29, 2012 at 8:01AM

by Collins, Jackie.
The start of the Lucky Santangelo series is amazing!! I had read Drop Dead Beautiful (book 6 in series) first, upon recommendation from a friend, and am actually glad that I did read that one first and then go back to the beginning. I’m ready to move on to Lucky and look forward to continuing the saga!! Just one interesting point to the author: how can you operate a record player in a blackout? Back in 1977 I doubt there were battery powered devices, especially a record player.   posted Jun 2, 2012 at 6:26PM

Cover ArtDeadline

Could have done without the first 6 or 7 chapters--then the book started to live up to Fern Michael’s standards. The first two chapters were an entire waste and added no value to the story. I do love the Godmother series, and starting on chapter 7 or 8, I was fully engrossed in the story line again.   posted May 25, 2012 at 8:38PM
