Cover ArtCrispin: the cross of lead
by Avi, 1937-
It is very surprising, dull in the beginning but suddenly bursting into action at the heart of the story. You always have to be at the ready for the next page.   posted Dec 31, 2005 at 1:13PM

Cover ArtThe neverending story
by Ende, Michael
This is a great book if you like fantasy and you are a good reader. It is about a boy named Bastain who steels a book called The NeverEnding story and reads in his school attic. But after a while he gets traped in the book. Over all this is one of the best books in the world.   posted May 9, 2006 at 11:08AM

Cover ArtThe tiger rising
by DiCamillo, Kate
It was pretty cool that there was a tiger in it. It was exciting when they let the tiger out and there was one part at the end that made me sad (but i wont give it away) I recommend this book to other kids that like animals   posted May 9, 2006 at 11:08AM

Cover ArtReport to the principal's office
by Spinelli, Jerry
This great book is about a new middle school, Plumstead. This books characters are Eddie Mont (he generates most of the books comedy), Salem Brownmiller (who is a writer and is writing a book about Eddie's life at school), Sunny Wyler (she is desperate to get herself expelled from Plumstead so she can be in another middle school; Cedar Grove middle school with her best friend, Hillary), finally, Pickles Johnson (who is a junior inventor). I think you should read this book because it's hilarious.   posted Mar 4, 2005 at 11:16AM

Cover ArtThe true story of the 3 little pigs
by Scieszka, Jon
I think that it was pretty funny on how it really happened. Because the wolf was making a cake for his mom and he had a cold. And he needed a cup of sugar. So he went to the pig's house for some sugar and then the pig said "Not for the hair on my chinny chin chin". And then he had to sneeze and the sneeze blew the house down and that happened another time. So I think it was a really good book. So I give it 5 starsJ!!!!!!   posted May 26, 2004 at 2:34PM

Cover ArtAll quiet on the western front
by Remarque, Erich Maria, 1898-1970
All Quiet on the Western Front is a novel illustrating the real terror and uselessness of war. One main theme of this book is the idea that countries uses soldiers as their playing pieces, turning them into animals only seeking survival. The soldiers, who joined the war for nationalistic reasons, begin to see the government (Germany) as the enemy instead of the French. They become disconnected from everything as they witness the horrors of war. This is one of the most graphic and visual pieces of literature I have read, but it truly described the horrors of war. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to get a taste of wars fast pace and terrifying results.   posted Apr 9, 2004
