by Ruiz Zafon, Carlos I enjoyed the Angel’s Game, but in a different way than I enjoyed The Shadow of the Wind. The Angel’s Game is darker, has more twists and turns and leaves many unanswered questions. The ambiguity makes you think of many possible interpretations of what was real or dreamed or....? I recommend it. posted May 5, 2013 at 10:45PM

by Egan, Timothy This book was very very interesting and was written in an engaging way. I learned a lot. I was very saddened by many details of the story. posted Oct 3, 2012 at 3:21PM

by Morgan, Jude I own this book and will enjoy re-reading it from time to time. It’s reminiscent of a Jane Austen novel. Enjoyable. posted Sep 18, 2012 at 1:44PM

I loved this book. the movie version is definately worth watching. very true to the book overall. I recommend listening to the director’s commentary as well. the movie makes some choices that tie things up nicely without ruining the tone of the story. posted Sep 18, 2012 at 1:40PM

by Beck, Judith S. I think this book is great. Can’t wait to see if her suggestions work. posted Sep 14, 2009 at 8:43PM

by Lisa See I really enjoyed this book. The writing makes you feel as though you are living Lily’s experiences along with her even though I know nothing of her culture. posted Jun 3, 2008 at 6:49PM

by Linda Berdoll I really enjoyed this book! The beginning is a little over the top with the "conjugal details", but then an interesting story develops that keeps you turning the pages. I was skeptical about liking this since I’m a big Jane Austen fan; but she really keeps the spirit of the original book. I’m anxious to read the next sequel Berdoll wrote. posted Sep 24, 2007 at 12:38PM

by Margaret Ball I was disappointed by this book. No one in my book club liked it. The fictional details seemed quite arbitrary and made up and I didn’t learn a great deal about french history by reading it. Also, the story only covers the first half of her life. It seems to end just when things could get interesting. posted Aug 10, 2007 at 8:42AM

by Morgan, Jude I’m sorry to say I couldn’t finish this book. I couldn’t get past the author’s strange sentence structure, punctuation and love of the colon :
I was disappointed that I couldn’t get into the story either. It was hard to distinguish between the characters. Similar or the same character names are used for different characters in different story lines. And I had to give up on the whole thing. posted Jun 5, 2007 at 11:55AM

by Diana Gabaldon To be honest, I was a little disappointed after reading Outlander. I had heard so many good things about it, my expectations were high. For a historical romance it’s definitely more "romance" than "historical". Also, I thought the character of Claire was written too one-dimensionally. It is entertaining if you don’t expect too much. posted May 3, 2007 at 1:43PM
