This was a great book about the battle of Culloden in Scotland, when Bonnie Prince Charlie tried to overthrow the English to reclaim the throne for Scotland. Duncan MacDonald of Glen Roy had to stay home and be the one in charge of the chores while his father is gone to war. He and his cousin, Ewan, secretly decide to sneak away to join the war. When Duncan's father sneaks back to his home without permission, Duncan & Ewan see their chance. They know where the Prince is, and they go off to Inverness, to fight in the battle of Culloden. They were hoping for honor and glory, but what Duncan finds is much, much different.
