Writer Parke Godwin was born on January 28, 1929. He was professional actor before he became a writer, and his writing reflects that theatrical background. He is known for his novels that place legendary figures in realistic historical settings; his retelling of Robin Hood (Sherwood in 1991 and Robin and the King in 1993) takes place during the Norman Conquest. His work has appeared in several anthologies and his short story Influencing the Hell out of Time and Teresa Golowitz was the basis of a television episode of The Twilight Zone.
