This book is good and makes you think, but it was hard to find a plot within its pages. Plus, I couldn’t really relate to it all that much because I am not Asian and I don’t really have problems with my mother.

Amy Tan journeys through the stories of four mothers who have immigrated from China to give their daughters a better life. However, American circumstances corrupt the mothers' intentions for an integrated culture, seen through the breakdowns in their daughters' marriages. Tan exposes the mingling of two opposite sides of the world, exploring these effects on love, hope, and pride within the families. This book will deeply touch the lives of those with a personal connection to foreigners.
