A Farewell to Arms is a novel [in which] Hemingway develops the plot and characters gradually. The novel takes place during World War I. The main character, Frederic Henry, relies on passion to distract him from his personal problems and issues caused by the war.

of the few books i have read that are war stories, this was definitely one of the better ones, since it didn't talk excessively about killing people and the hard work it takes to be a good soldier. it was a heart-touching story that i think many would enjoy.

I am glad I read it because it is a famous classic. However I did not feel the writing style suited me. The characters didn't fully develop and the plot was slow. I think people should read it though, although it was not particularly my favorite.
