She has received an American Book Award, a Carl Sandburg Prize, and a Southwestern Booksellers Award for her work. She lives in Chicago. Ana Castillo is the author, most recently, of "Peel My Love Like an Onion", as well as three other novels, a previous collection of poetry, "My Father Was a Toltec", & numerous other books. She lives in Chicago with her son, Michael.
