Writer and journalist Gary Krist's short stories first gained popularity when they appeared in The New York Times. His first collection, The Garden State, won the Sue Kaufman Prize for First Fiction, and Bone by Bone was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year (1994). He also wrote three novels and is a regular book reviewer for the New York Times Book Review, Salon, and the Washington Post Book World. He has won numerous awards including the Stephen Crane Award, a Lowell Thomas Gold Medal for Travel Journalism, and a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. He currently lives in Bethesda, Maryland with his family. (Bowker Author Biography)
