Doug Parker's wife died suddenly and he is seriously grieving for her and his past life. He is lost without her. He wanders through his days drunk and in a blur. His life is pathetic, but his story is told in a hilarious way. Doug's family members are all going through their own mini dramas and they all want a piece of him. He clearly wants to be left alone and struggles with his family's antics to get him out of his mourning. Tropper is very astute in working through Doug's raw grief while providing hysterical comic relief. Do not be put off by the cover. Optioned by Paramount.
