James and Lizzie are my great-great grandparents. Their oldest child was born in 1863 during the war and lived to be 109. I knew her well as "great-mother" when I was growing up. The Bowler’s grandson was my beloved grandfather Reuben Law, 1898-2005. It is amazing to me that their story lives on through this new book! -AnnM, Hennepin County Librarian
