Honestly, one of the best works of fiction I’ve ever read. Right up there with The Color Purple. Great humor and the characters are so human--faulty, admirable, selfish, selfless, disillusioned, and delusional. He presents his characters frankly, but gently. Can hardly wait to read another by Patrick Hamilton.
