I have loved this book for about 45 years, when my grandmother gave it to me. It’s not one of Louisa May Alcott’s best known books. Reading it again in 2006 with a book club was a pleasure (not always the case when rereading titles I loved as a child.) Published in 1875 and describing the life of a rich young orphan and her cousins, it’s a little sentimental. But it’s like a bucket of cold water in the face compared to other children’s titles of the era.
