This novel is the beginning of the Circle of Magic series, which continues for eight more books (to my knowledge) after the first one, as the characters mature. An extremely enjoyable series with rich, detailed characters.

I thought it was cool that all of them were in mortal danger, and Niko managed to save all of them. You should read other Tamora Pierce books, too.

I loved this book.It was about four kids who find out they have powers over certain things. Like one girl can control the weather. The plot is really interesting and intricate, it might seem long but you'll never ant the book to stop! This has become one of my favorite books! [Series: Circle of Magic #1]

Sandry's Book is an overall great book. It is something that makes you examine and observe the literary world with a bit more keener eye than usual, so pay great attention to detail because it will pay off in the end. The characters are very mysterious, each with a very unique past, and characters that you can understand on a deeper level. One of the girls, Tris, has been abandoned by her family because of who she was, a really gifted mage who has great power to control the weather. I tend not really to feel sorry for her, because I have been in that situation a few times before and the first thing that you should experience would be empathy: you know how that person feels from your own experiences and not just a third person sympathizer. Hazy story line but then again, it is only the first installment of the quartet and I love Tamora Pierce's works, such as the Song of the Lionness quartet and The Trickster's Choice. She captures the image of fantasy and makes a new level all on her own. I really admire that about her; just to start afresh and take off on your own vision and not an adaptation of any others.
