Adult Fiction MARLANT
Summary: The German Revolution of 1918--19 is one of the most intensely researched topics in 20th century German history. Yet the interpretations ascribed to the revolution have undergone significant change over time. It has been viewed alternatively as a stab in the back of the German army and treason against the Fatherland to an event that prevented the rise of Bolshevism and as a missed opportunity for democratization. This study documents for the very first time German historiography concerning the Revolution of 1918--19 over a period of nearly 100 years, and illuminates the changing historical interpretations of this watershed event.
