Brain injury rewiring for loved ones : a lifeline to new connections
Dolen, Carolyn E.
Adult Nonfiction RC387.5 .D647 2010
Carolyn E. Dolen is a rewired survivor who defied the prognosis of "suicide or psych ward" after her brain injury from a 1976 auto accident. Her Rewiring books resulted from her feisty defiance of that dire prediction. Overcoming her injuries, she earned two master's degrees with high honors, completed two long-distance cycling trips, learned to board and kayak surf in her fifties, and still competes in (and wins) triathlons and other races - with a lot of help and only a few ER visits! Carolyn's years of climbing up the rehabilitation mountain required concerted efforts in virtually all areas of life. To maximize her recovery, she continues to feed body, mind, and spirit with nutritious fare.
