Teen Fiction CAST
From Library Journal:
This is the eighth entry in the No. 1 New York Times best-selling "House of Night" YA fantasy series by mother-daughter duo P.C. and Kristin Cast, following Burned (2010), also available from Macmillan Audio/AudioGO and read by Caitlin Davies. In it, Zoey Redbird returns from the Otherworld and assumes her place as High Priestess of Tulsa's House of Night. The novel calls for Scottish and deep Oklahoma accents as well as a variety of male and female characterizations. But though Davies delivers the appropriate level of teen angst, she lacks the vocal range necessary to balance a story told from multiple points of view, often in the same chapter. Nevertheless, this popular series' relatively clean nature, dearth of profanity and graphic sex, and basic premise of good vs. evil make it a fine choice for public and high school libraries.
