This is one of the most classic books of all time and everyone should read it sometime in their life, and not just because it spurned a love of gothic horror that is still continuing to this day with Twilight and The Vampire Diaries-both traiters to the name of vampire, in my opinion. The best thing about horror written in the 19th century is that it is not overtly violent, but instead uses suspense and subterfuge to scare the reader. The characters were magnificent, the plot was well organized, but it was the grand imagery that stood out most to me. I highly recommend it.
