Justify my thug : a novel
Clark, Wahida.
Adult Fiction CLARK
From Library Journal:
The next installment (after Thug Lovin') in Clark's popular "Thug" series piles on more drama. Tasha and Trae continue to engage in a marital battle with face slaps, choking, and the occasional kick to the groin. Trae is insanely jealous after learning that Tasha is pregnant from messing around with Kyron. Yet Trae is no saint himself, as Charli Li is carrying his child. Tasha won't stand for his infidelity and schemes to disrupt everything. Love takes a backseat to the drama of cheatin', creepin', and violence. As Kyron says, "We ain't in the game to love these ho's. You suppose to hit it and pass it to the left." Talk about misogyny! Meanwhile, Charli Li's father is a cold-blooded gangster with the Chinese Triads. VERDICT The many alternating voices crowding together may confuse readers unfamiliar with the series. It's like trying to follow a hot Twitter thread, but, dang it, every 20 pages a wild scene snaps your head back. Buy multiple copies. Clark is the real deal. [Cash Money Content is a new publishing venture by the founders of the successful rap label Cash Money Records; Simon & Schuster's Atria imprint will distribute its list, which also includes Iceberg Slim's classic Pimp, reviewed below.-Ed.] (c) Copyright 2011.
