Jim Swanson tells the story of Percy Hughes, who grew up in South Minneapolis, shagged balls at Nicollet Park as a teen, and learned some hard lessons about race in the military while stationed down South. As an adult Percy delivered the daily mail faithfully for decades - and still found the time to play a commanding role in the vibrant Minneapolis night-club scene of the 1 950s and 60s. He continued to play and teach extensively during the Big Band revival of more recent times, and also became a tennis coach of national stature.
