Anyone who has an interest in the 1860’s should take the time to read Emerson’s book on Robert Todd Lincoln. RTL is often overlooked because of all the attention spent on his famous parents, but he was an important contributor to society in the Gilded Age. I came away with a real understanding of him and his role in such a famous family.

Few children of the great and famous achieve the success that was the life of "Bob" Lincoln, especially in the face of tragedy that is perhaps only rivaled by the Kennedy family. In his lifetime, R.Lincoln, witnessed the growth of the US from continental to world power.
