My first thought when I saw this book was "Wow, this is long." However, when I opened it up and started reading, I was hooked. The Count of Monte Cristo tells the story of a friendly successful sailor named Edmond Dantes who is thrown into prison by jealous, selfish men. After fourteen years, Edmond escapes and sets out to get revenge on the men who cost him so much. The book is suspenseful and clever. It is an adventure story that also offers romance and tragedy.

Very satisfying. A tale of revenge; and all Dantes does is sit back and watch everyone else cause their own downfall.

I went into this, with one expection. That it would be as good as the last film adaptation. I am here to say that the book has exceeded my hopes. It reads like the roller coaster that is Edmond's life.

In All honesty I didn't like the book as much as I liked the movie, the movie had a happier ending then the book but it is a classic and I had to pick it up for a reading class in High School because my teacher "couldn't think of anything else at the time to assign."
