I couldn't put this book down! Upton truly has a way with words. The book is about the meatpacking industry in Chicago, during the late 1800's. The labor laws and working conditions were so bad and Sinclair tells the truth to the full. I love the point of view. The book is very powering and it really moved me.

The book’s reputation is so very well deserved. It is painful, though in excellent taste. Mr. Sinclair only needs to touch upon attitudes, conditions, and lack of regulation. Those realities speak for themselves in days of yore, and remain relevant today in different ways. The CD is brilliantly, sensitively, engagingly read by George Guidall.
