I loved this book! Its great for any sci-fi reader. I would recommend it for ages 13-16, younger people may not understand it as much. It is said mostly in conversational first person view, so its not as easy to read as listen to on audio book. A similar novel is

FEED is a great book, it’s more then a sci-fi, it’s a romance and a tragedy. It reminded me a lot of The Giver, but this book is a bit more then that. It’s really confusing, but pretty good when you get past that.
