This novel is an intricate and page-turning mystery. Maisie Dobbs was born the daughter of a poor grocer in London, attended Cambridge, and served as a nurse in WWI. Later, Maise becomes a detective, and in her first case, she is forced to remember the horrors of the war and come to terms with them. The story in England and France in the 1910s and 1920s - before, during, and after WWI. I would highly recommend Maisie Dobbs to fans of historical fiction and mystery.
