This book is very good. I had actually read it a while ago but decided to reread it and post a review of it. Bartimeus is a sarcastic and clever djinn who is summoned by Nathaniel, a 11 year old boy already obsessed with revenge. Bartimeus is assigned to steal the Amulet of Samarkand from another magician, Simon Lovelace, and give it the Nathaniel. It is set in modern day London, except there is magic, obviosly. A very witty, funny book with lots of adventure. Read! [Series: Bartimaeus trilogy]

Eleven year-old Nathanial, a young magician’s apprentice, is humiliated by a ruthless evil magician, Simon Lovelace. To get revenge, Nathanial summons a magical creature, Bartimaeus, and commands him to steal Lovelace’s magical possession, the Amulet of Samarkand. The amulet is part of a terrible plan, and Lovelace will do anything to keep it in his control. Bartimaeus doesn’t want to take orders from Nathaniel, but if they can’t work together, both will be destroyed.

I think it’s really cool how there are so many different types of very different characters, and how "patterns repeat themselves", in more ways then one. 3 books in the series. I think the last one’s the best.
