Kushiel’s dart
by Carey, Jacqueline
I love this series! Carey has created a fully realized alternate history that is exciting, compelling, and greatly arousing.   posted Aug 19, 2011 at 10:36AM

The ocean at the end of the lane
by Gaiman, Neil
Gaiman is one-of-a-kind! He remembers what its like to be seven years old, and expresses it brilliantly. I only wish this book were a thousand pages longer.   posted Jun 22, 2013 at 1:40PM

The three musketeers
by Dumas, Alexandre
One of the all-time great adventure novels, Volume 1 of the D’Artagnan Romances(followed by 20 YEARS LATER, THE VICOMTE DE BRAGELONNE [which the Hennepin County Library inexplicably DOES NOT HAVE!!!!! FIE!! SHAME!!], LOUISE DE LA VALLIERE, and THE MAN IN THE IRON MASK)is a top-shelf, rip-roaring swashbuckler. If you enjoy this, I heartily recommend CAPTAIN BLOOD and SCARAMOUCHE by Raphael Sabatini, THE PRISONER OF ZENDA by Anthony Hope, and THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL by Baroness Orczy.   posted Sep 4, 2011 at 4:55PM
