A romance on three legs : Glenn Gould’s obsessive quest for the perfect piano
by Katie Hafner
Although this book had some interesting bits here and there, I found the beginning a slow read. Peter Ostwald’s book about Gould I found much more intuitive. However, for anyone that loves Gould and has a curiosity of his obsession with CD318 and its history, this is worth the time. Although, would have liked to have known more about his Chickering now at the CBC.   posted Apr 5, 2014 at 4:22PM

Genius within [videorecording] : the inner life of Glenn Gould
Incredible documentary of a musical genius that left this world way too soon   posted Feb 5, 2013 at 10:23AM

Glenn Gould : the ecstasy and tragedy of genius
by Peter F. Ostwald
Although this book is a tough read unless you have an extensive musical or medical background, it is in my opinion definitely worth the effort if you are a Glenn Gould fan. Great stories, history, quotes etc. So sad the Author did not live long enough to see it’s release.   posted Sep 29, 2013 at 7:17PM

Harpo speaks!
by Harpo Marx
Excellent read. Fascinating account by many peoples favourite Marx Brother. Especially like the part in 1933 on Harpo’s Russian trip.   posted Jul 4, 2013 at 6:17PM

Searching for Sugar Man [videorecording]
"Searching for Sugar Man"is an excellent film worth buying. This guys story reminds me a little bit of Nick Drake in some ways, except the way he dealt with non-success and the only 2 albums he recorded back in the early 1970’s in Detroit, Michigan which did nothing in the USA but became the MONSTER of a hit in South Africa, inspiring a nation engulfed by Aparthied.?   posted Dec 15, 2013 at 12:32PM

White bicycles : making music in the 1960s
by Boyd, Joe
Quite disappointing. I took this book out as I love all of Joe Boyd’s musical production work with artists such as Nick Drake, John Martyn etc. However, I found this to be an impossible read from the get go, and in the end only picked out the Nick Drake stuff, as the flow of the prose were not an easy read   posted Jul 25, 2013 at 7:20PM
