Narrated by Benjamin Bratt ("Law and Order"), "We Shall Remain" brings new light to five traditional stories from the past 300 years: "After the Mayflower," "Tecumsehs Vision," "Trail of Tears," "Geronimo," and "Wounded Knee."" MOTIVATION FOR ME TO SEE: I just don't know a lot about the Native American Indians' past. "Almanac" on TPT2 television had a segment during Minnesota's 150th birthday celebration that reflected on the sad way Minnesota treated the Dakota, exiling many to South Dakota in the 1860's following battles in and around Mankato, after hanging 30 (President Lincoln's involvement was also discussed), and with this new DVD offering, I hope to learn more about the events that led up to that and the rest of their history ( This series was presented on PBS recently). MY THOUGHTS: I could fill a large hole with what I didn't know and now do about Native American History -- from first contact to Geronimo, a cult figure in many American's eyes but for many Chiricahua, not so much, to the sources of conflict at Pine Ridge, etc., etc. While hours long, this series is rarely dry - well worth the time spent.
