This book was really intriguing! I loved this book because it was a real life experience from someone who actually climbed Mt. Everest. It had a lot of action that really happened and it was very well written. It was amazing how the author was one of the few to survive of the many people that went on the expedition with him. Into Thin Air gives you a really good idea of how hard it is to climb Mr. Everest. This book will capture the attention of many looking for a good nonfiction book to read.

O. M. G.! Incredible story of disaster on Mount Everest, including heroic death of one climber and survival of another despite being left for dead three times!

I picked this book up as a tonic for the hottest days of summer and found I had to put it aside several times as the story felt so immediate and personal. The desire to reach the fullness of the story was in direct opposition to a palpable sense of dread that grew with each chapter—the writing is that good.

Alex Award winner which usually means it’s nonfiction that’s very enjoyable and that is certainly true of this book. It will send you to the internet (and the library catalog) afterwards to read more about this and other Everest expeditions.

I would recommend ANY book that Jon Krakauer writes. His attention to detail, research, and his ability to write are superior. In this case, his talents as both a mountain climber, as well as a incredibly talented journalist combine to create a recounting of his Mt. Everest climb (and subsequent disaster) that is an incredibly compelling story. This book is definitely an A plus effort. You will NOT be disappointed (unless you get frustrated with books that you can’t put down because they are so interesting to read!).
