Agree with Lorenzo T. This is NOT the Jesse Stone Parker created. Parker seemed through several books to be building up a Stone/Sunny Randall thing, but Brandon is apparently going to disappear the Sunny character altogether. What happened to Jesse’s dog, and what’s with the cat? In recent years, fictional detectives seem to be increasingly adopted by cats. The Cat Who Lives With Elvis Cole (but prefers Joe Pike) started the trend, and now every other private eye or cop has a cat hanging around. Brandon seems to be jumping on the bandwagon, disappearing Jesse’s dog along with Sunny.

Yeah, writing can’t begin to compare with Parker’s.

After listening to a couple long audiobooks (14 discs each) thought it was time for something a little shorter. This story fit the bill!! Not real exciting, but a good story nonetheless. Really liked the fact that they portrayed the small town chief police as a caring individual who really influenced the lives of many of the town’s residents. If you’re looking for a quick read, this is a good one!! 7 out of 10 for me.
