Rusty Harry is 12 in the summer of 1960, one that is full of surprises for he and his father. Ivan Doig writes again from the fabled Two Medicine country of Montana. The Bartender’s Tale is about Rusty’s father, the proprietor of the legendary Medicine Lodge saloon and the example he sets for his motherless son. I love coming-of-age stories; this is one of the best.
