Christy is the true story of a sheltered nineteen year old girl that volunteers to be a schoolteacher in the superstitous, wild, Cutter Gap, high in the Tenessee moutains in the early 1900s. When she gets there she is shocked and confused by the people and their customs. This story tells of Christy struggling to find herself, and her purpose. The author, Catherine Marshall, who is also Christy’s daughter, does a wonderful job of portraying each character, especially Christy. It is one of my most favorite books and I would highly reccomend it. Once you pick it up you can’t put it down.

If you like depressing novels, this one's for you... it wouldn't have been so depressing if everyone didn't die, and if Christy had actually decided which guy she liked more: the handsome, creepy preacher or the eccentric, cranky, lovable doctor (isn't it rather obvious who I would choose? :D) Anywhoo, liked the book, wouldn't reread it.
