This book absolutely was astonishing. This comes from a perspective of a 16-year-old boy who is to write 500 words/week as a part of his restraining order to stay away from his now ex-girlfriend, whom he (Nick) hits. He was to start from the first time he saw her to the time when he got to court for the restraining order, and to also attend abuse sessions with other men whom have beaten their girlfriends as well. This book is in the prespective of the present, the after affects of the court sentencing and when he is writing in the journal about his relationship with his girlfriend, Caitlain. Don't be so quick to judge the main character with this book if you are thinking that he is a terrible person, should be given the worst punishment for abusing his girlfriend, or "Poor Caitlain!", etc...until you read this book in its entirety. This is not just about the fact that dating violence has happened and a sentence has been carried out. This is not about who was right and who was wrong and who should be punished. This is about the development of people by their actions to life the only way they may know how and seeing things not just from their eyes, but from someone else's tale of the same story that should be mentioned and brought to view that could bring great revelations and a new life to follow.

I thought this was an incredible story about a 16 year old boy who had an abusive father and got that trait passed down to him. Once his girl friend takes him to court he starts to write in a journal, where he realizes what kind of person he was. I definately rate this 5 stars! It was an extraordinary book!

I loved this book! Its about a boy(nick) who got a restraining order from his girlfriend for physically abusing her. His father is an abusive parent and the court orders him to attend special classes about physical abuse. At first Nick didnt realize that he was abusive but as the story progresses he discovers that he is like his father.
