|Everyone's seen the movies, but many don't actually take the time to read this great series. As I always say, the book/s is/are always better than the movie, no matter how good the movie/s is/are (unless the book is absolutely horrible, in which case no one would make a movie out of it). Tolkien is very descriptive, and usually a lot of description is boring, (sort of like this) but these are the only books where I actually enjoyed it and will go back to the books just to read the description because it sounds awesome.|| Print this list

I spent three years reading all four books (the Hobbit, Fellowship, Two Towers, Return of the King) to my two kids, ages 6 and 8). They loved all the books and movies. I'm working on the Silmarillion and the Children of Hurin now, but it is a bit difficult to get through.
