Walker Library Construction Begins November 19
Construction for the new Hennepin County Library - Walker will begin on Monday, November 19. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board approved Park Board Resolution 2012-310 on November 7. This resolution grants Hennepin County an eighteen-month access agreement for construction staging on The Mall in support of the Walker Library reconstruction. Hennepin County's Property Services Department issued a "Notice-to-Proceed" to project contractor Shaw-Lundquist Associates, Inc. on November 14 to demolish the old building and construct a new library on the same site. The new library will re-open in mid-2014. Project updates will be posted on Hennepin County Library’s Building Projects webpage as construction progresses.
