Resolution Guidance Statement on the Consolidation
Process of the
Library Foundation of
Whereas, the Hennepin County
Library Board appointed a subcommittee to review the work being done by our
highly-valued partners, the Library Foundation of Hennepin County and The
Friends of the Minneapolis Public Library; and
Whereas, the main mission of both
groups is to support programs and services over and above tax-provided support
for libraries in Hennepin County; and
Whereas, a unified support entity
would strengthen the potential of the continued success of libraries throughout
Hennepin County by combining the strengths and talents of both groups into one
united support entity for Hennepin County Library; and
Whereas, the Hennepin County
Library Board will pursue further exploration of a Friends alliance for
independent Friends of the Library entities that may also provide
representation and alignment with the larger unified support group;
Therefore be it resolved, that the
Hennepin County Library Board strongly supports and agrees to assist as needed
to ensure a smooth transition to consolidate the Library Foundation of Hennepin
County and The Friends of the Minneapolis Public Library into one unified
support group with an effective date of consolidation on or before June 30, 2008.
