The Library Foundation and Suburban Friends of Hennepin County Library encourage support for the 2008 Collection Enhancement Campaign.

Again this year the Library Foundation and Friends groups in each of the suburban Hennepin County Libraries are working together on a joint collection initiative to raise funds to enhance the library collections. Because books and reading are the building blocks of literacy development, we are concentrating on raising funds for children's books.
Remember how proud you were the day you carefully printed your name on your first library card? And remember the librarian who suggested just the right book for you every time you came to the library? Close your eyes and remember what that meant and how those experiences contributed to making you the citizen, reader and library supporter you are today.
The money raised will be used for:
- Picture books for preschoolers to enjoy with their favorite adults -- those books are well loved and need replacement often!
- Contemporary readers that give beginning readers a sense of accomplishment. No more Dick and Jane!
- World language storybooks -- Children learning English who develop vocabulary in their first language have better future reading success in English.
- CDs, digital books and music that contribute to development of literacy skills
We need your help to ensure that our libraries continue to be places where that magic of the right book happens over and over again.
Please consider making a tax-deductible gift before September 15th to support this children's book collection initiative. Support from book lovers and library enthusiasts like you will enable Hennepin County Library to better meet customer demand and serve our community.
