The Library Foundation, united with the Friends of the Minneapolis Public Library, assists the Library with building improvements, collections, programming, public awareness, and funding to help raise dollars for system wide initiatives or designated local projects.
Friends of the Library groups support a local library through volunteering in the library, raising funds for the local library and speaking up in the community on behalf of library programs, services and value to the community. Local Friends are library ambassadors in their own community. While the Library Foundation supports HCL on a system-wide basis, Friends provide local, more grassroots support.
Volunteers extend the reach of Hennepin County Library through various activities ranging from tutoring students to shelving items.
