Inflation Statistics
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports on the Consumer Price Index every month.  September  actually saw a slight decrease of .01 %. October's figure will be reported on November 19. Has the BLS removed food or energy prices in its official measure of inflation?  No, according to their release "Common Misconceptions about the Consumer Price Index."

Campaign ads in gaming
Here's something new; Senator Obama has purchased ads in Burnout Paradise online, a high-speed car racing simulation.  The New York Times reports that billboards for Obama can be seen by game subscribers in battleground states.

Krugman receives Nobel Prize
Economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman has been awarded the Nobel Prize for Economics. He was honored for his work in trade theory. His columns for the New York Times can also be accessed through the Proquest Newsstand database.
