History
The Northside Federation was founded in 1967. The purpose of the federation was to provide a vehicle through which recommendations can be made and/or actions can be taken on the needs, concerns, and problems of Northside residents and groups. Membership was open to all non-profit neighborhood and community groups whose main objective is community improvement.
Membership consisted of the following organizations:
Northside Action Committee, Northside Citizens Committee, Northside Residents Participation Group, Wirth Park Neighborhood Council, Homewood Neighborhood Council, Jordan Area Action Committee, Parnassus Cultural Center, Minnesota Council for Racial Justice, Northside Youth Development Council, North Branch AFDC Auxiliary , The Way Opportunities Unlimited, Northside Citizens Community Center, Northside Community Services, Phyllis Wheatley Community Center
Various city officials served as ex-officio members.
Meetings were held at various locations throughout Minneapolis.
