Minnesota students placed well in the National History Day competition
in June. Two Hennepin County students received Outstanding Entry designations with a Senior Group Documentary called "Driven to Decline: Interstate Highways, Suburbanization, and Urban Decay," and a Junior Individual Performance called "The U.S.-Dakota War of 1862: A Tragic Turning Point Fueled by Greed, Corruption, and Racism."
Sixteen other Minnesota students were finalists in 13 categories, with eight of them placing in the top 3 in 7 categories, including a first place win for a Senior Group Performance by three Mendota Heights students with their piece "John Paul II's Apostolic Journey to Poland."
Hennepin County students placed well in the State competition
in May, with ten students winning a spot in the top two for ten categories. Thanks for supporting History Day in Minnesota!
