I first started reading gothic literature in 8th grade when the honors reading program at my high school was introduced to me. I started with a classic, Wuthering Heights, which has become one of my favorites. I then went on to take the class Gothic Literature at my high school. Gothic literature has become my all time favorite genre due to its dark and subtle action. Rather than plain action or mystery, gothic lit lets your mind make its own action.
Gothic stories have characters that are far from perfect, making them seem more like a normal person with struggles. Most of the time the reader battles with deciding if the good in the characters is stronger than the bad. It keeps you wondering where the story will go and who is going to surprise you.
